Budget Win: A small-town recycling company recently picked up our Vented Nest & Stack Bins to use for weekly residential recycling pickups. Instead of spending taxpayer dollars on brand-new bins, they found a more affordable option with us that gets the job done while keeping costs down for the community. Saving materials AND taxpayer dollars is a “repurpose” we can get behind!

INQUIRY: A customer called interested in “repurposing” one of our unused Ford Truck Beds to haul stone. With rock hauling being tough on equipment, the lower cost of buying used makes it a practical option for a job where dents, scratches and wear are expected.

“repurposed”HISTORY: We love all things “repurposing” including machinery and equipment that was “repurposed” for uses beyond the familiar usage or application.
Q: Like the Hemi example below, do you have another example of a piece of equipment/machinery being “repurposed”? Email Examples!

Hemi Engine: In the Cold War, the famous Chrysler Hemi motor powered more than the Challenger and the Barracuda muscle cars. It also powered air raid sirens. It remains the loudest air siren ever produced.
Our favorite line in the Autoweek article: “Like so many engineering milestones, the siren’s genesis was a product of war-time urgency.” War forces nations to be resourceful!

Property: Materials aren’t the only things that can get “repurposed”. Plenty of examples in real estate, too. An old rock quarry becoming a famous concert venue in Sweden, a grain elevator becoming an art museum in South Africa, or abandoned salt mines being turned into document and artifact storage facilities right here in the USA. Well, this property inside the Texas Triangle that got sent to me is in need of a little “repurposing” for sure!
Q: Any ideas for how this could be “repurposed”? Email Ideas!
FYI: This property is for sale at $1M under appraised value. If you’re interested in more information, we’ll send you the real estate listing. Email Us for Details!

Tidbit: We often get asked, “Where do you get all your materials?”. Well, our sources are as diverse as the inventories we get.
Example: A couple of weeks ago we did a deal for 4 semi truckloads of structural steel from a one of the subcontractors that built Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles. They had a bunch of 10″ x 10″ x 21′ unused Steel Square Tubing from another project that got cancelled. Rather than sending it to scrap metal, they sold it to us!
Q: Do you have used OR surplus materials that you’d like to deal on? If “yes”, Email Us Details!

BEFORE: A Dept of Transportation contractor contacted us about 3/4″ galvanized highway Steel Median Cable that they were tearing out on a section of highway that was getting worked on.
AFTER: Some of the Cable was purchased by an outfit using it to anchor logs that they use as “breakwaters”. “Breakwaters” are designed to break the waves in marinas and harbors.
The Beauty of “repurposing”: The DOT contractor chose “repurposing” which is more environmentally friendly than metal recycling. The marina operator, knew the galvanized Cable was actually ideal as a rust inhibitor in this underwater application! It’s a win/win…the DOT contractor did right by the environment by choosing “repurposing”, and the buyer saved big $$$ by buying used Cable instead of new!

FEEDBACK: “I bought 4 of the Tempered Glass Sheets from the Colorado warehouse a few months ago and used them instead of railing for our deck at our cabin.
