backSTORY: These Ground-up Asphalt Shingles were once roofing material, but instead of becoming roofing waste, they’ve been reclaimed for a new purpose. Made from recycled asphalt shingles, this material can be spread and compacted to create an inexpensive surface for driveways, private roads, parking areas, and access lanes. Sometimes referred to as the “poor man’s driveway,” chopped-up shingles can offer a budget-friendly alternative to traditional gravel. They can also be “repurposed” for temporary roads, equipment parking areas, pathways, and other applications where a durable, economical ground surface is needed.
