Behind-the-Scenes.  "How do you do what you do?" - Allison Winters  RE: Allison, we often get asked that.  So, we thought we'd give you a little behind-the-scenes tour.

Step #1:  It usually starts with a phone call or email.  Real Time Example: "I’ve attached some images that show the generalized condition of our buoyancy modules used for offshore oil drilling.  They are rather old and in poor condition, and they lack material tractability.  Are you interested in these?" - Bob

Step #2:  We then review and try to decide if the material(s) is a candidate for "repurposing".  Sometimes we ask you, our readers, for ideas and suggestions.  Real Time Example:  Q: How could these buoyancy modules get "repurposed"?
Submit Ideas>>

Step #3:  Based on a combination of our history, your feedback, our gut instincts, etc... we either decline or make an offer to owner of the materials.  If an offer is accepted, we bring the materials to one of our yards to be marketed for sale.  Real Time Example:  Stay Tuned...We haven't decided whether to decline or make offer an offer on these buoyancy modules.

Q:  Do you have a byproduct, waste, equipment or inventory that you're wondering if it would be a candidate for "repurposing"?  Email Details>>
Brick Demolition.   We just received another call this morning from a demolition contractor asking about "repurposing" ideas for bricks from brick facades being demo'd.  Of course, we're familiar with cleaning up the brick and re-installing it as brick.  In our experience, though, the cost to clean the mortar off the bricks typically exceeds the value of the vintage bricks.

Q: So, is there any particularly good "repurpose" application for crushed brick?  Ideas for Crushed Brick>>
"Finely ground fired brick dust or powder has pozzolanic properties making it a useful supplementary cementitious material (SCM) and portland cement substitute for mortars and concrete. Sourcing and cost of logistics is the usual barrier to use crushed brick?" - Michael Donoghue

"Brick that has been broken can be crushed to a regular size and used as aggregate. Quite common in the UK to be able to rent mini crushers as the dump fees are so high." - David Tomkins in United Kingdom

"Use the crushed brick on baseball and softball fields on the warning track." - Rob Richman

Bamboo Stakes.  A truckload+ of these stakes.  L: Den  Bamboo Pricing>>

HISTORY of the STAKES:  A landscape distributor received these over the summer.  A couple of the pallets seemed to have some kind of mold on the stakes.  So, they rejected the whole load.  We then made a heck of a deal on them.
