BEFORE Ford Motor company used 300,000 sq ft of this heavy, re-inforced geotextile material to make a 6 acre temporary parking lot for completed vehicles.  When they were done with it, they called us to keep it out of the landfill.  AFTER:  "I am a builder and developer and with the heavy rain we are getting stuck on many of our jobsites.  Do you have access to any type of materials such as landing mats or geotech type of support for our trucks and vehicles to cross a muddy site?" Tom in Georgia  RE:  Tom, Our heavy duty parking lot fabric might be a solution.

How We Work.  BEFORE:  "We have a pallet of magnets that have a pressure sensitive adhesive on the back.  We used these magnets in kits we made for a large company.  This company provided the magnets to us and they sent us way too many.  The product is no longer on the market and the magnets have been in our shop for over 15 years.   Can you find a home for them?" - Dennis  STATUS:  Dennis accepted our offer, and the magnets are now for sale.

Q:  Like Dennis, do you have obsolete product you'd like out of your warehouse?  We have interest!

repurposedCONTACT "We re-manufacture light duty truck fleets.  We take your fleet of used Dodge, Ford, Chevy or Toyota trucks and completely overhaul them.  We then offer a 3 year or 75,000 mile warranty.  As we like to say 'cheaper than new, but better than used'!  Watch Video>>" - Steve Belden  www.vehiclereman.comor 903-505-9988

RE:  Steve, Wow, we've heard about re-manufacturing 18-wheelers, but we've never heard about it for light trucks.  Our penny-wise fleet owners will be all over this.  You get a 2nd life for your trucks at 1/2 the cost.  Love it!
Reader Feedback.  "Good morning Damon, I love your newsletter and especially how you educate your consumers." Stacy Ames in Massachusetts  RE:  Stacy, thanks for the kind words.  However, the real heroes are all the people who are figuring out innovative ways to "repurpose" the byproducts and waste of industry!
oddEMAIL:  "I have roughly 101,000 lbs (~787 pallets or 17 truckloads) of expired pizza chips which are basically potato chips. The chips are in consumer packaging which is then put into a display case. So that would mean we also have 19,213 cardboard display cases along with 230,556 bags of chips.  It is taking up a huge amount of foot space in my warehouse. Throwing it out in the dumpster will take us at least 2 months of daily pickups with waste management." Matthew in Illinois

ourSTORY:  BEFORE:  A Dept of Transportation contractor contacted us about 3/4" galvanized highway median cable that they were tearing out on a section of highway that was getting worked on.  Could we keep it out of the landfill they asked?  AFTER:  The answer is, yes!  Some of the highway cable was purchased by an marina using it to anchor logs that they use as "breakwaters".  "Breakwaters" are designed to break the waves in marinas and harbors.  WIN / WIN:  The DOT contractor did right by the environment by choosing "repurposing" which is a more environmentally friendly than recycling (energy intensive...chip it, shred it, grind it, melt it), and the marina buyer saved big $$$ by buying used cable instead of new!

WANTED...Hard-to-Recover Metals.  Do you have waste material that has a % ofnon-ferrous metal content that is hard to recover?  If yes, we might be able to help!  Lots of these metals have very little, if any, scrap value because the metal is too costly to recover because of adjoining plastics, glass, coatings, adhesives, rubber, laminated films, etc.  Call Damon at 303.321.1471 or Email Us for Details>>

EXAMPLE:  "I saw a recent e-mail from repurposedMATERIALS asking for waste material with non-ferous metal content that is difficult to recover. I work at door manufacturer and we have been looking for a way to recycle our HEPA filters that accumulate dust from our polishing processes. As we polish mostly brass and bronze parts, the used filters have a fairly high copper, zinc, nickel, and lead content and detectable levels of chromium, lead, and manganese. These metals are contained with the matrix of the filter and have some debris from the polishing belts and wheels as well." - Richard

repurposedEXERCISE: “A few years ago, my basketball coach turned used white boards into exercise equipment. He cut it into a 6'x3' sheet, bolted two 3' long 4" x 4" boards on the sides. Then we would slide back and forth in greased socks to improve lateral strength and movement.  It was an effective way to build strength in your hips. Good cross training for just about any sport that requires side to side movement.” – Ryan Curtis  RE: Ryan, we love it!  Thx for sharing.

Q: Like Ryan, have you seen examples of creative "repurposing".
