"repurpose" #1:  "Your old conveyor belt has worked superbly lining the bottoms of our articulated dump truck beds and the tops of our trailer decks.  Using a cheap used material as a wear part on an expensive piece of equipment makes a lot of sense to me!  Oh, and the rubber is a great sound dampener, too!" - Bill Andrews, dirt contractor in Ohio

Conveyor Belting.  L: Den, Atl, Chi, DFW

Q: Like with Bill's belting, do have other "repurposes" worthy of a Low-Cost Operator mention?

repurposedPROJECT:  "Nathan, from South Dakota, purchased 33 sheets of gym flooring. He is using it to build a custom squash court in his basement." - Patrick (our Chicago manager)

INTERESTING FACT:  Many think that "repurposing" is for those of the lower income demographic.  To the contrary, as Nathan's home squash court attests, we have many very high net worth and business owners/executives as customers and supporters!  Hmmm...might there be a correlation between frugality and net worth!?!

newsletterREFERRAL.  "I am the Sustainability Manager with the San Antonio Airport.  I was forwarded a copy of one of your companies e-mails.  I am interested in getting my own e-mail updates from repurposedMATERIALS." Josh

THANK YOU:  A big thank you to whoever forwarded Josh a copy of our newsletter.  We love you guys!

Psst!...MISCONCEPTION.  A lot of people incorrectly assume the prototypical "repurposer"/re-user is lower income.  That couldn't be farther from the truth.  In fact, our customer base is loaded with high net worth people and companies.  (Eg: see the Porsche and Cadillac in our parking lot.)   Psst...a little secret, they are high net worth because they save $$$ buying used materials to solve problems rather than buying new!!!
How We Work.  BEFORE "Damon, I have a load of coated pipe.  Was involved in a truck roll over incident.  The ground was too wet for the truck to park and it laid over on its side.  This was for a pipe line and was refused." - Ron STATUS:  Ron accepted our offer, and we now have the pipe for sale in Philly!

Q:  Like Ron, do you have obsolete inventory from freight damage, or for any other reason, that would be a candidate for "repurposing"?  If yes,

repurposedIDEA:  Speaking of Cowboy Engineering, we were approached by a big Project Cargo company (Google "Project Cargo" for pictures of some extraordinary machinery they haul across the the ocean) that brings in wind turbine blades from overseas.  They need to wash the salt from the ocean spray off of the pieces and parts prior to transport.  They are seeing if they can adapt this wheel washer to solve their wash off problem.  Todd, all we can say is brilliant adaptive thinking!

ourSTORY.  BEFORE: A Colorado ski resort wanted to find a higher/better use for their retired ski lift cable than simply seeing it melted down as scrap metal.  AFTER: Yesterday, we loaded the 10,000' of ski lift cable onto a truck headed for a demolition contractor in Cleveland.  They are going to use the cable to pullover a water tower.  Oh, and the demo contractor saved huge $$$ over buying new cable!!!

This is what we do everyday here at repurposedMATERIALS.  We find new homes, or "repurposes", for obsolete materials and equipment.

Q:  Like the ski company, do you have obsolete materials or equipment that you'd like to see "repurposed"?  If yes,

* A.C.E.  This acronym stands for AttributesCharacteristicsEngineering.  We use this acronym to tell you a little about a used material and what qualities it has in hopes that someone can find a "repurpose" for it.  Asked another way...what did the material do in it's 1st life that might help identify a very different, 2nd life for it?
