re·pur·posed·MA·TE·RI·ALS (noun) - byproducts and waste that have value "as is" to a second, unrelated industry.  LEARN MORE ABOUT US>>

equipmentMAINTENANCE: "The last manufacturing plant I built I turned railroad track upside down and we used the flat bottom as grade to screed the concrete. Adding this railroad rail added a great amount of strength to the floor.  But, more than that it gave us a way to secure new or relocated machinery almost anywhere in the plant. I also added re-bar by cutting small holes in the web of the track.  I tied these rails to the rebar and the metal concrete wire. That gave us a full ground anywhere we needed to weld in the plant. I have used the same technique at my farm when I built a new shop."Carter Langford

Q: Like with these RR rails in a manufacturing facility, have you seen other "repurposing" done in conjunction w/ warehouses or property?  Email Ideas>>

BEFORE:  When they need an odd width conveyor belt say 32" wide, they will cut 4" off a 36" roll to get the proper width.  The 4" trimming is a drop or remnant of the conveyor industry.  These drops can be 100's of feet long of brand new, unused rubber that has all kinds of "repurposing" possibilities!

Q: Do you have trimmings, remnants, or drops from your operation that would be a good candidate for "repurposing"?

AFTER "We use these conveyor trimmings. Then drill 1" holes through them and  bolt the to a large steel frame. The frame hooks to a forklift as an attachment and we push the shipping debris into loaders at our port terminal." - David Buffetta in New Jersey

repurposedINBOX:  "We accumulate these plywood sheets that go between layers of pallets on inbound shipments.  I think they're just used a single time.  We collect them and we'd like to know if you can 'repurpose' these.  With the glue, composting isn't an option." - Chuck in Georgia
