This versatile used synthetic turf comes from sports facilities…soccer, football, baseball, etc… looking to upgrade their fields.  The artificial turf fields were not adhered to anything before so the backing is a tough, clean plastic. The grassy exterior part of the turf has been exposed for many years so it will look slightly worn but is still thick enough to be used for a variety of “repurposes”.

Q:  Will the used synthetic turf have lines on it?

A:  Yes, the artificial turf was originally used as soccer and football fields, etc.  Consequently, the turf rolls will have lines sewn throughout.  We do not separate rolls.  We sell the synthetic turf “as is”…lines and all.

Q:  What is synthetic turf “infill”?

A:  This new generation artificial turf is like a shag carpet with blades of about 1 ½” – 2” long.  (This is NOT like the old outdoor carpet or Astroturf as some called it.)  Between the blades a sand / rubber mix is worked in.  This infill helps give the turf field playability and durability.

Q:  Does the turf you sell come with infill?

A:  We sell used artificial turf both with infill and with the infill removed or extracted.

Q:  How much does used artificial turf weigh?

A:  Artificial turf weighs about ½ pound per square foot without fill.  Turf with fill can weigh anywhere from 4-8 pounds per square foot depending on the sand / rubber mix used in it’s original installation.

Q:  Is the used turf material porous?

A:  These new generation synthetic turf fields are designed to wick moisture through the blades and turf backing.

NOTE: While we call this repurposed turf, others may call it reclaimed turf.  Funny, we’ve also heard it being called recycled turf.  Then there are those who refer to it as scrap turf, seconded turf, junk turf…or maybe even salvaged turf!  Remember, whatever “green” or sustainable phrase you want to use regarding turf, we’ve got it.
