We do research on erosion and sediment control on construction sites.  I've attached a pic from the artificial ditch we created to do erosion tests - the vinyl is under the dirt to keep water from leaching through and seal the exit from leakage." -Rich w/ North Carolina State University

Ski Lift Cable.  We just got in 10,000' of used ski lift cable yesterday.  This is 1 1/2" steel cable.  L: Denver  Email for More Details>>

A.C.E (Attributes, Characteristics, Engineering) - Since lives literally hang in the balance on a ski lift, do you think they wait to change out their steel cables until they are really worn out and almost ready to break?  Of course not.  Ski resorts have very aggressive replacement schedules for their cables.  What does that mean for their used cable?  That means the cable is still in pretty darn good shape relative to retired cable from other industries!

NOTE: This ski resort could have sent this cable to a scrap metal recycler.  But, they knew "repurposing" the cable was a higher and better use option for the environment and their sustainability goals than simply sending this cable off to be melted.

Street Sweeper Brushes.  Another big load of brushes arrived yesterday in Denver.  L: Denver, Dallas, Atlanta  Click Here for Brush Prices>>

repurposedIDEA:  "I'm looking for something that we can put on the ground under bee hives. The idea is to both suppress weeds but also inhibit the larvae of a pest called the small hive beetle from getting into the soil around the hive where it pupates. We have tried rolling out roofing shingle but is not tough enough over time." - Ken Foster

Concrete Barge.  "This barge has a 133' x 54' x 12' (7,182 sq ft of deck) concrete hull. This barge previously had an elevated deck and exposed rebar exists to rebuild a deck to fit the customer’s requirements or remove them flush with the deck." -Butch  This type of barge gets used a lot in the oil & gas industry.  The barge is meant to be floated to a site, and then filled with water so it sinks and rests on the bottom.  They then typically put some kind of oil/gas support equipment on the barge deck.  L: Louisiana  Email for More Barge Details>>

* A.C.E.  This acronym stands for AttributesCharacteristicsEngineering.  We use this acronym to tell you a little about a used material and what qualities it has in hopes that someone can find a "repurpose" for it.  Asked another way...what did the material do in it's 1st life that might help identify a very different, 2nd life for it?
