sameJOB:  "I typically use a heavy duty truck wrecker instead of hiring a crane to save BIG dollars.  While the hourly rate for a big wrecker is about the same as a crane, the minimum number of hours is usually half or more.  So, with the hourly rate difference plus the minimum rental time difference, I'm saving $280 by going with a big semi truck wrecker.  Most people don't know you can even hire a wrecker to do crane work." - Jack Stevens in Alabama  RE: Jack that is so smart and outside-the-box!!!

Q: Anybody else have experience "repurposing" machinery in a non-traditional way like Jack??

equipmentSIMILARITY:  "Damon, You've show the mixers off concrete trucks the last few editions.  Funny, those mixers look almost identical to big stainless meat tumblers used in the meat packing industry to marinate meat.  These might be a 'repurpose' opportunity for you." - Jim  RE: Jim, Yes, it is funny how much machinery is similar between different industries.  They probably change the name...eg: Concrete Mixer vs Meat Tumbler...but otherwise, they do about the same thing.  That is where "repurposing" comes in.  Can you find the same machine that has the same *A.C.E. in another industry where you can buy it for less?

Q: Do you have examples where a very similar type of equipment is used &/or called something different in a different industry?

Portable Amusement Ride.  "Damon, I have a a 20-yr-old, self-erecting amusement ride.  The tower is 160' tall and the diameter of ride portion is almost 300'.  Would you be interested in purchasing? L: Texas." - Tom

Q: How could this amusement ride be "repurposed"?
Contact Us>>

HINT:  To think like a "repurposer", you have to think about the ride's A.C.E. (Attributes, Characteristics, Engineering).  Example - It is self-erecting.  It is a tower.  It spins.  It is portable.  The ride portion that actually spins is an intricate steel framework.  The trailer has outriggers.  So, a "repurpose" might utilize all these A.C.E. "as is" or you might  deconstruct the ride and only use a portion of the A.C.E.!?!
